Private Obstetric or Midwifery Care
If you choose care with a private obstetrician or midwife and intend to have your baby at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, you will need a pre-admission appointment at the hospital’s Antenatal Clinic. Once you are referred by your private provider we will contact you to arrange an appointment and to advise you of childbirth education, birthing and postnatal care services.
When to call -Bookings
It is important to make an appointment with your GP early in your pregnancy to discuss your pregnancy and birthing options. You can then make an appointment with the private obstetrician of your choice as soon as possible.
Postnatal Care
For women choosing private obstetric or midwifery care, your antenatal, birth and postnatal care will be provided by your obstetrician. You will also have access to the Community Maternal and Child Health (MACH) nursing service who will provide ongoing parenting support.
