Private Midwives
For a healthy woman experiencing an uncomplicated pregnancy, pregnancy care provided by a qualified midwife is considered the most appropriate care. For women experiencing more complex pregnancy, obstetric and/or medical care will likely be needed. In these circumstances the addition of a private midwife to support you throughout your journey could also be of significant benefit.
Private midwives are based in the community, providing continuity of care to women from preconception, pregnancy, birth and during the postnatal period. They will often choose to work in the community rather than being employed by a hospital as it allows them the flexibility to provide individualised care catering to the specific needs of each woman. Private midwifery care is an option for all women whether you are planning to birth at home or in a hospital.
